Bourg St Maurice - Holidaying with Bike Village |
||
| Jack Rick
and Adi set off for the Cristalp race in Switzerland and decided they needed
some acclimatization the week before. The boys from Bike Village to the south of Mont Blonc, in Bourg st Maurice seemed the perfect hosts for the week. (click pics for big views) |

| As you can
see the weather was crap, and the terrible views didn't help either. To prepare us for the Epic 4500 metres of climbs of the Cristalp, Hosts Stu and Sam took us on several epic days on their favourite trails. |

It dosen't
have to all be hard work though. The area of Les Arcs & la Plagne is well
served with lifts and even a tramway up to 2600 metres. This leaves room for days of arm pumping descents and cool beers if that's your bag. |
|
| The guys
really have scoured the area and found some great trails, even opening up a few
of their own. The Silver Darling descent shoots straight into my top ten fun trails as one of the most memorable. |
||
| The guys
were based in Bourg for their first year, but now they have bought their own
beautifull farmhouse in Landry nearby. We went to check it out whist we were there, and one trail ends up in their back garden, something we missed when we were there. They bought it soon after. |
||
| For added entertainment Bourg is right on a raging river, with a world class slalom canoe course as well. While we were there the GB team were staying next door to us whilst competing. It was cool to see just how battered their carbonfibre boats got, and just how many hot fit women seem to be into paddling. | ||
Stu, Sam, and their partners have now been there for 4 years, and as they don't just rent for the summer like some companies they must really have the whole area dialled for trails, sounds like its time for a return visit, those trails are worth it. |
